An extensive reduction in the amount of screenings through recirculation of organic constituents into the treatment process not only provides substantial cost savings in the disposal of screenings but also offers benefits in terms of stability in the nitrification/denitrification process required in almost all sewage treatment plants.
Our decades of experience in screenings treatment have been brought to bear in the screenings washers. Numerous reference systems confirm the leading role of this technology, which has succeeded in reducing the weight of screenings by an average of 75%.
During development, there was particular emphasis on minimum wear and maximum operational reliability. The IWV screenings washer can also be operated with process water from the degritting area. Even sudden increases in screenings due to heavy rain are processed faultlessly.
The screenings are discharged directly or via a conveyor from the screen into the washer feed hopper. After pre-pressing, the screened matter is conveyed by the auger into the washing chamber, where it is washed in a patented process in the water current without any mechanical action.
After the washing process, the screened matter passes into the compaction zone, where it is compressed and discharged. The soluble organic materials are fed back into the trough together with the washing water. The discharge pipe with integral compaction zone adjustment can be optionally equipped with hygienic encapsulation.
